Fuller Consulting Engineers, Inc. (FCE) is pleased to announce he addition of a new employee to the Architecture and Forensic Services division. David M. VanDommelen, AIA has come to FCE following his previous employment with the engineering, architecture, and forensic firm Raths, Raths, & Johnson, Inc. (RRJ), located in Chicago, IL. Mr. VanDommelen is licensed as an architect in South Carolina and Illinois and is currently a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). He is also a member of the Building Enclosure Counsel (BEC) and ASTM Technical Committee C24 on Building Seals and Sealants

The Forensic Division of Fuller Consulting Engineers, Inc. (FCE) exhibited at the NC/SC Construction Law Seminar. The seminar took place at the Grove Park Inn, located in Asheville, NC and was well attended by attorneys from both states. FCE enjoyed the atmosphere of the seminar and appreciated the opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and to make new contacts. Fuller Consulting Engineers attends the SWRI Fall Technical Meeting

In September, the Forensic Division of Fuller Consulting Engineers, Inc. (FCE) attended the Sealant, Waterproofing, & Restoration Institute’s Fall Technical Meeting at Lost Pines Resort in Austin, TX. The technical meeting provided valuable continuing education and fellowship with waterproofing and restoration experts from across the country. During the event, H. Ross Clements, AIA of FCE participated in the Sheet Membrane Application Training Course, which is a SWRI Validated Training Program. Thanks to Dan Cain of the George D. Alan Company and to Polyguard for providing the materials and instruction required for the course.

FCE attends the SCAJ Annual Convention

In early August, the Forensic Division of Fuller Consulting Engineers, Inc. (FCE) exhibited at the South Carolina Association for Justice Annual Convention. The convention took place at the Westin Resort and Spa, located on Hilton Head Island. The convention was well attended and FCE appreciated the opportunity to connect with attorneys from across the state. “The LEED AP Homes credential provides a standard for professionals participating in design and construction of high-performance green homes. The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) created this specialty credential to denote practical knowledge of the LEED for Homes rating system.”Mr. Hupp has been a team member for numerous LEED for Homes and Core + Shell (CS) projects ranging from LEED Certified to LEED Platinum. Mr. Hupp is also currently designing the first home in West Virginia to pursue LEED Gold certification.

FCE employees attend Carolinas Chapter of RCI, Inc. Annual Golf Outing & SC Bar Construction Law Seminar
 

H. Ross Clements, AIA and Jamison Hupp, Assoc. AIA attended the Annual Golf Outing of the Carolinas Chapter of RCI, Inc. at the beautiful Tobacco Road Golf Course near Pinehurst, NC.Despite Tobacco Road being rated one of the Top Ten Hardest courses in America by Golf Digest Magazine, our FCE team played well and enjoyed the opportunity to establish new relationships with fellow RCI members. In late September, the Forensic Division of Fuller Consulting Engineers, Inc .participated in the SC Bar Construction Law Seminar at the Westin Poinsett Hotel in downtown Greenville, SC and provided an exhibit booth for the seminar’s attendees. The SC Bar Continuing Legal Education Division and the Construction Law Section presented a one-day special program for South Carolina construction law attorneys to acquire CLE credits and attend “powerful presentations on some of the hottest topics in construction law and litigation by a distinguished faculty of experienced practitioners.” FCE was grateful to take part in the event as an exhibitor and to speak with SC Bar members about the services our Forensic Division offers. The seminar was also a great opportunity to pass out some of our FCE koozies!

Fuller Consulting Engineers announces the completion of the Greenville Humane Society.



Fuller Consulting Engineers (FCE) is pleased to announce the completion of the latest facility for the Greenville Humane Society located in Greenville, SC. This project included renovations and additions to an existing structure. FCE provided the structural engineering services for this facility. FCE’s scope of work included design and detailing of the extensive canopies, concrete site work, verifying the adequacy of the existing structure for the new equipment loads applied to the roof, as well as the design and detailing of the sign feature along the front and sides of the facility. This project displays FCE’s versatility in the use of many different construction materials including masonry, concrete, wood, and steel.

Fuller Consulting Engineers Presents at ASTM Symposium on Sealants

In late June, the Architecture and Forensic Services Division of Fuller Consulting Engineers, Inc. (FCE), attended and presented at the ASTM Fifth Symposium on the Durability of Building and Construction Sealants and Adhesives. The conference was a two-day event held at the Sheraton Centre Hotel located in Toronto, ON. The symposium was well attended by manufacturers, contractors, and consultants and consisted of over 20 presentations discussing the research, performance, and current trends of sealants in the construction industry.

During the symposium, David VanDommelen, AIA of FCE co-presented a case study on the investigation and role of sealants in the repair of a 4-acre silicone roof located on the tropical island of Guam, USA. Look for the paper discussing the case study to be published in 2015 in the ASTM STP: Selected Technical Papers from the symposium. FCE was grateful to have the opportunity to present at the symposium and thanks ASTM Committee C24 and the Sheraton Centre for organizing and hosting the conference.

FCE Employees Adopt-A-Highway

Fuller Consulting Engineers, Inc. has adopted a highway in Abbeville, SC as a new service project. Employees of the FCE Forensic division spent the day cleaning the two mile long section of the road and collected over 20 bags of trash. FCE is committed to maintaining and keeping the highway clean. Thanks to Abbeville County SCDOT for organizing this service project.

Fuller Consulting Engineers has added new staff

Fuller Consulting Engineers, Inc. (FCE) is pleased to announce the addition of Mark Irving, PE, SE as Senior Engineer, Arthur Simmons as Engineer in Training, and Melody Waller as Architectural Designer

Mr. Irving was previously with McCluskey Engineering Corporation, Naperville, IL and has over 25 years of experience in multi-story developments, precast, and industrial industries.

Mr. Simmons is a graduate of North Carolina State with his Bachelors and Masters in Civil Engineering. Mr. Simmons joins FCE after having worked with Tyndall Engineering and Design, PA located in Garner, NC.

Ms. Waller obtained her Bachelors of Arts in Art Studio from University of South Carolina and her Masters of Fine Arts in Animation from Savannah College of Art + Design. Ms. Waller is very well-versed in Revit 3D Modeling Software.
